Now
What’s ol’ Trev up to now?
I turned thirty this year, on a beach in Puerto Rico.
We’re entering our fourth year in the same apartment in Grand Rapids, and my fifth year living in the city. Staying put feels great after almost a decade of moving every time my lease was up—homes always, but cities/states/borders almost as often. I’d like to become more adventurous, but I mostly make my rounds through my favorite spots around here.
We just got a new cat named Pasta. He’s been living with us since the spring. He took a bit to open up when he moved in, but I think he’s feeling pretty comfy now with one asterisk: he and our other cat, Pinky, can’t be left in the same room together unsupervised. Pinky is a little too interested in him still, but they’re working on it.
I took a career break sabbatical bit of time off work between jobs at the beginning of the year. I feel better because of it. I made no monumental self-discoveries, but I enjoyed doing ordinary things, mostly stress-free, and uncovered a few new interests before it was interrupted, then extended by a minor surgery.1 I’ll write more about this period later when (or if) I feel confident I have something to say about it. In lieu of my own thoughts, this hits on a lot of my feelings.
I’m back to work now, in a new job that I’m liking a lot, and I’m coming up on full recovery post surgery. I’m starting to run again and soccer is back on. Everything’s coming together.
Inspired by Derek Sivers’ idea, and last updated on 2025 August 20.

Minor. You don’t have to feel bad for me, but I’d love if you did! ↩︎
